Ages 5-7, 7-10. Each week kids will explore the waters and beaches around Bainbridge Island, play games & activities, discover marine life, and improve their paddling skills. Instructors will introduce everyone to a variety of kayaks, canoes and paddle boards, helping kids get comfortable and confident. With Bainbridge’s abundant shoreline, kids will also have ample opportunities to learn about local marine life. Women’s Kayaking Group
Ages 13-99. Calling all adventurous women! Join this fun and supportive group as you work together to improve your kayaking skills, challenge yourself, and have fun on the water with friends. We will meet once a week for three weeks, starting with a beginner’s appropriate paddle and introducing new skills and challenges each week. Week two we will practice rescue skills in the pool and week three our finale will be an open water paddle to a potluck picnic. Ages 15-99. Give back to the community while helping with all sorts of paddling adventures! This 3.5 hour course covers the basics of what you need to know to be a volunteer on our paddling programs and trips. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to get out on the water and help others as well as anyone who might want to get a job with the paddling program in the future. We will cover paddle technique, safety, group management, gear, spacing, games, and other essentials. We will work towards getting you comfortable enough to help teach what you learned. Then we’ll head out for a paddle and get a feel for what you’ll be doing as a volunteer. You will come away with the basic knowledge you need to volunteer with us. Adults interested in volunteering will need to successfully pass a criminal background check and MVR report. Meet at Waterfront Park.

We’ll cover contingency planning, outfitting your kayak for expeditions, gear checklists, proper route planning, accounting for tides, and other marine considerations. Then as a group we’ll implement these skills in real life by planning and carrying out an overnight kayak camping trip to Blake Island. After this fun expedition you’ll have the knowledge and experience you need to embark on your own multi-day adventures!
