AFTER SCHOOL CHESS CLUBS with Mark Cohen
Why chess? In addition to simply being lots of fun and a lifelong source of interest, amusement, and satisfaction, being part of a scholastic chess program has significant educational and developmental benefits. Numerous studies have shown that it helps kids perform better in school, both socially and academically. Chess players improve their academic performance, not only for math, but also in reading, spelling and science. In addition, kids learn a variety of important life skills including: concentration, persistence, patience, the setting and attainment of goals, sacrifice, personal responsibility, self-confidence, respect for others, emotional control, and mood management. Private and home school students are welcome to attend. Clubs meet for 90 minutes.

Clubs include a long, supervised outdoor break, a group lesson, plenty of practice time, and one-on-one instruction with Bainbridge Black Knights Coach Mark Cohen. All students welcome.

Monday Chess & Games Club - 170252

Chess fosters critical thinking, problem-solvng, self-control, sportsmanship, and patience. Strategy games (many from Mensa) offer a wide variety of colorful choices for team and solo play. These extended early release-day 6-week clubs include a long, supervised outdoor break, a group leasson, plenty of practice time and one-onone instruction with Bainbridge Black Knights coach Mark Cohen. All students welcome.
This early-release club is for Elementary School students grades K-4 + Intermediate and Middle School students able to attend the early time.

Ordway students will meet at the front door hallway (near the Lizzy Ordway statue) and be escorted by Coach Mark as a group to the Aquatics Center. Students from other schools are responsible for their own transportation to the pool.

All Day Explorer Camp - 400101

Ages 6-11. Our Explorer camp has it all, from field trips and swimming to active games and arts and crafts. Campers will use their imagination, grow new friendships and discover new talents and interests through a variety of activities delivered by caring, experienced and well-trained staff. This new program allows children to have a safe place to recreate at a supervised location before and after a traditional work schedule. In addition to supervised care, the program will also provide transportation to any District, 9-4pm summer camp on island.
