BIOLUMINESCENCE & STARGAZING PADDLE
Ages 7-99. Come witness the light shows both underwater and overhead! We will explore the incredibly rich bioluminescence of the Puget Sound, perhaps even catching the outlines of fish or shrimp as they dart away underneath us swathed in the surreal blue light created when they disturb phosphorescent marine plankton. We’ll learn about the biology behind this stunning phenomenon, and about the constellations above us. This experience feels truly magical, whether you’re looking down at the glowing water or up at the stars! Open to all experience levels. Participants ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Location TBA.

Introduction to Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) T
Ages 7-99. This class will introduce new SUP paddlers to the basic concepts and skills necessary for enjoying days on the water around Bainbridge. We will cover basic strokes, body position, board and paddle sizing as well as some more challenging maneuvers for more advanced SUP paddlers. Lots of individual practice time (in a warm water environment) and activities will make this class engaging for all levels of SUP paddlers! Meet at Aquatic Center. Participants under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Lunchtime Petroglyph Paddle
All Ages. An afternoon adventure complete with good food, an exciting paddle, and even prehistoric petroglyphs. We’ll paddle from Port Madison over to Suquamish for a tasty lunch at Sully’s Bar and Bistro, then head back across the channel to Agate Point, where we’ll check out Haleets, the glacial rock containing ancient petroglyphs thought to be carved by members of the Suquamish tribe as much as 3000 years ago. This program is open to all experience levels, ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Ages 10-99. A kayaker in your group flips over 100 yards from shore, what do you do? Develop skills that will help you deal with rough water paddling or unexpected capsizes. Women's Dinghy Sailing Clinic - 430757

Ages 12-99. If you’re a female interested in learning to sail or improving your skills, don’t miss this awesome hands-on sailing class and opportunity to get out on the water! You’ll receive brief classroom instruction and then be paired up with someone who complements your abilities to sail Flying Junior (FJ) double-handed sailboats. The morning will include a capsize demo as well as an introduction to rigging, basic terms, sail trim, body position, tacks, jibes, docking/stopping, accelerating, and basic sailing rules. Sailors should be prepared to get wet and be physical in the boat. Coached by women for women in a fun, supportive atmosphere, this unique clinic is not to be missed! Meet at Hidden Cove Park. District Swim License required.

About Boating Safety
Age 12 to adult. Instructed by members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, this comprehensive boating course teaches the fundamentals of safe boating operation. A wide range of topics are covered: navigation, safety equipment, anchoring/docking, trailering, engines, mooring, etc - to help all boaters to become safer and more knowledgeable.
